Dear HBBA Friends,
All of us at HBBA wish you a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday. Our next meeting will be on Monday evening December 7th at 7 PM at the Hampton Bays Library.
Today, I had the pleasure of attending a presentation attended by Southampton Town Officials, Senator Ken LaValle and Assemblyman Fred Thiele, Legislator Jay Schneiderman and many Hampton Bays Community Leaders.
Frank Zappone, Town of Southampton Deputy Superintendant arranged a meeting at the Hampton Bays Community Center to announce their partnership to fund and start construction of the new 38 acre Good Ground Park in downtown Hampton Bays. Phase One has officially started. The entrance will be on Squiretown Road a short distance off Montauk Highway. Phase One is 8 acres consisting of the street and streetscape, the Village Green, Playgrounds, Picnic area and the Amphitheater. The 38 acres was purchased 10 years ago for 3.8 million with CPF monies. The Park project will be a beautiful asset to our Hamlet.
The drainage and sidewalk repairs are underway on Montauk Highway and I met with the engineers and contractor hired to do the work. Several trees will have to come down and curbing and other repairs will continue this fall. The actual repaving of Main Street will happen in the Spring of 2016 with a promise to be completed before Memorial Day. We will keep you posted.
HBBA is working on the Holiday Decorate Project and we should be lit up shortly after the Thanksgiving Holiday. We appreciate the wonderful responses to our holiday decorating campaign. A full list of donors will will be posted on our website www.HBBA.net and on Facebook. Thank you all so much.
Don’t forget our Annual Holiday Luncheon will be held on Wednesday December 9th at Oakland’s Restaurant on Dune Road in Hampton Bays. Please call Grace Daly for a reservation at (631) 723-0726. Tickets are $35.00 for a three course luncheon. 12 Noon to 3 PM. Seating is limited so please reserve early. This year we are honoring Villa Paul Restaurant with a Beautification Award and a Community Appreciation Award to Sheryl Heather from Spring and Summer Pools.
